New Adventure

The research is nearing the final stages...
The preparation has begun...
For the arrival of our newest friends...

After much research, the breed we have decided on is also the breed my Grandpa loved.
I guess the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree.

The Rhode Island Red

This is one of the most famous and all time popular breeds of truly American chickens. Developed in the early part of this century in the state of the same name, they have maintained their reputation as a dual purpose fowl through the years. Outstanding for production qualities, they have led the contests for brown egg layers time after time. No other heavy breed lays more or better eggs than the Rhode Island Reds. Baby chicks are a rusty red color and the mature birds are a variety of mahogany red.

Back Home

I have been in Las Vegas on business for most of this week. We miss Vegas a lot (having lived there for two years) and we always love going back. People think we are crazy, but until you have lived there you wouldn't understand. I was by myself this time so it wasn't nearly as fun. I couldn't wait to get back home to my family and the stormy weather... and shoot a few ducks.
Friday night duck hunt on one of my favorite spots.
This is a little pond just off the river, this is a great little Mallard spot.

Saturday night hunt on another river.
This is a great Pin tail and Teal spot with the occasional Mallard and Shoveler.
